Has Bond always worn OMEGA?

Ever since the release of Dr. No in 1962, James Bond has both thrilled us and gained our admiration – as have his many watches. Seiko, Hamilton, Rolex, Breitling, and Heuer (as TAG Heuer was then known) have all graced the wrist of the world’s favourite British spy. However, this came to an end in 1995 when GoldenEye marked a new era for 007’s horological tastes.

The Rolex Submariner Ref. 16610 worn by Timothy Dalton in The Living Daylights (1989) marked the final time that Bond would vary his watch choice. In the film to follow, GoldenEye, Pierce Brosnan wore a quartz OMEGA Seamaster Professional (Reference 2541.80). From this moment forth, Swiss watch manufacture OMEGA became the only brand to appear on the secret agent’s wrist.

The Seamaster made such an impression that it has remained the ultimate Bond watch to this day.  Following its production, GoldenEye’s costume designer Lindy Hemming disclosed: ‘I was convinced that Commander Bond, a naval man, a diver and a discreet gentleman of the world would wear this watch’. It appears that Hemming was right. So without further ado, it’s time to explore every one of the Seamaster models (along with their bizarre fictitious powers engineered by Q) worn by Bond.

The history of the Seamaster

The Seamaster line’s watches have seen numerous changes across the decades. This ranges from manual and automatic winding to quartz editions, like the first OMEGA Bond watch. There have also been numerous variations in colour, bracelet, and case sizes over the years. However, the majority feature a stainless-steel case, screw-in crown, and luminous hands. It is no wonder that the smart, pragmatic diver’s watch became the ideal action piece for Mr. Bond.

OMEGA’s longest-running line still in production does indeed have a naval history. Launched in 1948, it takes inspiration from designs made for the British Navy in the Second World War. Over the course of the war, the Ministry of Defence ordered over 110,000 of its reliable water-resistant watches. These laid down a blueprint for the Seamaster line. The first Seamasters featured a rubber (rather than steel or lead) O-ring gasket and were principally created for use in submarines, as diving was not yet a popular sport. An O-ring gasket, for those who don’t know, is a circular-looped mechanism that creates a barrier by sealing two surfaces. Thanks to this, the watch initially achieved 60 m water-resistance.

The first OMEGA Seamaster watches

A military background

In 1957, OMEGA released a powerful new trio of watches: the Speedmaster, the lesser-known Railmaster, and, most importantly for us, the Seamaster 300, which now reached 200 m water-resistance. Between 1967 and 1971, the British Royal Navy and the Army again made use of the model, and a screw-down crown also was added.

1957 – The professional watches by OMEGA: the Speedmaster, Seamaster 300 and railmaster.

Following this, the OMEGA Seamaster Professional Diver 300M was released to the public in 1993. It was this quartz-powered watch that could be seen on the wrist of Brosnan in GoldenEye two years later. The model’s popularity surged, and the model’s success has not looked back since. Furthermore, the Seamaster Diver 300M watches were revamped in 2018 to mark 25 years since the model’s release and have also proved to be a hit. The 42 mm models showcase brightly coloured ceramic bezels with white enamel or Ceragold diving scales. While still equipped with the line’s hallmark details, the updated versions now feature raised Super-LumiNova-filled indices and reshaped skeleton hands. Additionally, another notable update comes in the form of a conical-shaped helium escape valve.

GoldenEye – 1995

The 41 mm steel OMEGA Seamaster Professional 300M Quartz (Reference 2541.80.00), which famously saw a helium valve serve as a laser cutter in the film, also had some real-life (much safer) perks, too. The sporty-looking quartz model has a battery life of 42 months, integrating an end-of-battery-life indicator as well as a date window at 3 o’clock. Thanks to the helium escape valve and screw-in crown, the model is water-resistant to 300 m. Luminescent hands plus an anti-reflective, scratch-resistant domed sapphire crystal had Bond ready to take on Auric Goldfinger any time. However, he was also ready to charm his way from Russia to Monte Carlo thanks to the timepiece’s suave blue dial with the collection’s original wave pattern.

  • James Bond Omega Seamaster  he Omega Seamaster, a deep diving watch. The second crown (at 10 o'clock) is a Helium release valve to allow helium out of the watch after wearing the watch in a diving bell with an atmosphere rich in helium. The watch is similar to that shown in recent James Bond films, in which this valve is transformed into improbable hidden gadgets

Omega has been associated with James Bond movies since 1995. That year, Pierce Brosnan took over the role of James Bond and wore the Omega Seamaster Quartz Professional in the movie GoldenEye. In all later films, Brosnan wore an Omega Seamaster Professional Chronometer (model 2531.80.00). The producers wanted to update the image of the fictional "super-spy" to a more distinctly sophisticated "Euro" look.

James Bond Omega watches from Bond movies

Tomorrow Never Dies – 1997
The World is Not Enough – 1999
Die Another Day – 2002

The OMEGA Seamaster Professional 300M (Ref. 2531.80.00) that appeared in Tomorrow Never Dies would remain with Bond for the next three films. While featuring the same dial and design details as the quartz watch worn by Brosnan in 1995, this timepiece is a self-winding chronometer with a rhodium-plated finish.

It is powered by the calibre OMEGA 1120 and equipped with a 44-hour power reserve. Once again, the watch features a screw-in crown, helium escape valve and date window at 3 o’clock. Of course, the model’s appearance didn’t only cause an explosion in the watch world – in the 1997 and 2002 movies, it saved the day for Bond, acting as a remote bomb detonator.

Casino Royale – 2006

2006 brought not only a change in actors, but also in watches. Not one, but two Seamaster models are seen on Daniel Craig in Casino Royale. Both are disappointingly gadget-free, but that’s not to say that the new James Bond wasn’t well-equipped. The 41 mm steel OMEGA Seamaster Professional 300M Co-Axial chronometer (Ref. 2220.80.00) is powered by the Co-Axial Calibre 2500.

Thankfully, 007 was able to work around-the-clock thanks to its 48-hour reserve. Its rhodium-plated escapement, which was first introduced back in 1999, reduces friction in the movement. This of course results in long-term chronometric high performance. Furthermore, the watch’s smart blue dial is complemented with a matching unidirectional rotating bezel. Notably, Le Chiffe (Mads Mikkelsen), one of the most formidable Bond villains to date, sits across from Bond in Casino Royale sporting his blood-weeping eye. Evidently a horology fan himself, Le Chiffe wears a steel Longines Evidenza Chronograph with a suitably sultry black dial. He wouldn’t be the only one to be impressed by Bond’s watch of choice. Bond’s beau throughout the film, Vesper Lynd, famously stereotypes Bond as one of those ‘former SAS types with easy smiles and expensive watches’, enquiring of his watch, ‘Rolex?’. ’OMEGA’, he replies coolly. ‘Beautiful’, she concedes.

Another model from the collection, first introduced in 2005, also gets a look-in. The steel OMEGA Seamaster Professional Planet Ocean chronometer (Ref. 2900.50.91) comes on a black rubber strap and measures a sizable 45.5 mm. Showcasing a black dial and matching unidirectional rotating bezel, the timepiece is hard to miss, no matter how action-packed things get. Bond is certainly ready snoop around Le Chiffe’s yacht thanks to its 600 m water-resistance. Once again, it uses the self-winding Co-Axial calibre 2500. Co-Axial calibres quickly appear to be something of a must for the secret agent.

Quantum of Solace – 2008

Admittedly Quantum of Solace just didn’t quite cut it for many Bond fans, but at least he donned a decent watch, the OMEGA Seamaster Professional Planet Ocean 600M (Ref. 2201.50.00). The model is smaller than its sibling in Casino Royale, measuring 42 mm, and comes on a stainless-steel bracelet. Like its counterpart, the watch features a scratch-resistant, anti-reflective sapphire crystal, a black dial and matching bezel, plus a date window at the 3 o’clock. The Co-Axial calibre 2500 powers the certified chronometer.

Skyfall – 2012

A memorable moment for watch aficionados has to be the sight of James Bond sporting the OMEGA Seamaster Planet Ocean 600M OMEGA Co-Axial 42mm (Ref. 232.30.42.21.01.001) as he hijacks and drives a military tank. The 42 mm steel watch with a black dial and bezel offers the same features as the two Planet Ocean models we have already seen.

However, powering this version is the OMEGA Co-Axial calibre 8500 – an upgraded version of the Co-Axial calibre 2500. The movement integrates a free sprung-balance, two barrels mounted in series, and automatic winding in both directions. The brand’s iconic Geneva waves in arabesque decorate the movement’s bridges and oscillating mass. The wearer can admire this via the open caseback.

Bond is always ready to look sophisticated in a Saville Row suit, and in Skyfall he switches up his Planet Ocean for the OMEGA Seamaster Aqua Terra 150M (Ref. 231.10.42.21.03.003) for a meeting with M. The Aqua Terra sunbrushed, lacquered dials evoke the wooden decks on luxury sailboats thanks to the vertical lined Teak Concept pattern. The 41.5 mm stainless-steel case again houses the notably shockproof OMEGA Master Co-Axial calibre 8500, featuring the same qualities as the OMEGA Seamaster Planet Ocean 600M OMEGA Co-Axial 42mm (Ref. 232.30.42.21.01.001). However, the calibre is resistant to magnetic fields greater than 15,000 gauss (hence its ‘Master’ status). Again, the wearer can admire the movement through the transparent caseback.

In case the audience hasn’t had enough OMEGA moments for one film, the most observant viewers will have noticed that the London Underground chase scene sees villain Raoul Silva (played by Tiago Rodriguez) conveniently cruise past some OMEGA advertising for an OMEGA Seamaster Planet Ocean and an OMEGA Seamaster Aqua Terra.

Spectre – 2015

In 2015’s Spectre, the secret agent sticks with the more dressy Aqua Terra in one of the opening scenes, as he takes his aim from a rooftop in Mexico. The OMEGA Seamaster Aqua Terra (Ref. 231.10.39.21.03.001) is a third-generation edition that holds the ‘Master Co-Axial’ status. Disappointingly, it is no longer in production. The blue-dial version of the stainless-steel watch saw the removal of the date window and the addition of a centre-link bracelet. When presented with it by Q, an unimpressed Bond asks, ‘Does it do anything?’, to which Q smoothly replies, ‘It tells the time – might help with your punctuality issues’.

Keeping it old school

Later, Léa Seydoux, who plays the irresistible Dr. Madeleine Swann, perches on top of a trapped Bond and subtly takes his watch, before activating its grenade function and saving the day. That model is the OMEGA Seamaster 300 (Ref. 233.32.41.21.01.001). The edition is in fact an updated interpretation of the original 1957 Seamaster 300 model. Presented in a 41 mm stainless-steel case, the timepiece is unique in many ways. For one thing, it has a black ceramic bi-directional bezel ring, featuring a 12-hour scale in Liquidmetal. The rhodium-plated hands have a vintage blue coating of Super-Luminova and the watch also displays the brand’s ‘lollipop’ central seconds hands.

It comes with a 5-stripe black and grey NATO strap – otherwise known as the James Bond NATO Strap. In a new first, the exact model is also available to the public, with 7,007 models having been made. Driving the watch is the highly innovative OMEGA Master Co-Axial calibre 8400, which, like the calibre 8500, is resistant to magnetic forces up to 15,000 gauss. It has a 60-hour power reserve and is water-resistant to 300 m.

Finally, showcased alongside Bond’s chic black leather driving gloves as he revs the engine, we see a flash of a mystery watch… Some believe it to be the vintage OMEGA Chronograph Caliber 321 (Ref. ST 101.010). If this article has got you feeling like 007, why not do some watch-spotting for yourself and see if you can be the one to save the day and solve the mystery?

No Time To Die – 2021

Last but not least, we are finally able to watch Craig’s final stint as Bond in October 2021. Surprisingly, despite his love for the OMEGA Seamaster Aqua Terra models, he wears the Seamaster Diver 300M “007” Edition. What’s more, he helped to design it. Presented on a mesh bracelet or NATO strap, the 42 mm model uses Grade 2 Titanium. By contrast, the unidirectional rotating bezel ring and dial are made from brown aluminium. Super-LumiNova ensures that the watch’s indices, hands and diving scale are visible 24/7 – ;et’s see if Bond benefits from it in the movie.

The timepiece is powered by the brand’s Co-Axial Master Chronometer 8806. The self-winding movement has a 55-hour power reserve. Already available in OMEGA boutiques, the timepiece costs 9,000 euros presented on the titanium bracelet, or 7,900 euros presented on the dark brown, grey and beige NATO strap.

Omega Seamaster with James Bond 007,  1995-2022

The name is Seamaster, Omega Seamaster. And while this one doesn’t need to be shaken nor stirred, the love story between Omega and James Bond 007 is a long one,
and they’re celebrating two decades of loyal service. Spectre, mr. Bond’s latest adventure will be released on Monday 26th of October – and stay tuned, because on this
exact day, we’ll have a very special feature on Monochrome, for your eyes only, with the brand new Omega Seamaster 300 Spectre Edition and a very specific
Aston Martin DB5! For now, let’s have a look back in the past to re-discover all the Omega Seamaster models that James Bond used in the 007 movies.

1995 – Goldeneye

James Bond has worn watches by Omega since 1995’s Goldeneye. In that film, Bond, played by Pierce Brosnan, wears a watch with a remote detonator for bombs and a laser beam to help him escape from an armored train.
This Omega Seamaster Professional featured a blue dial and quartz caliber – Ref. 2541.80. The watch was launched by the Swatch Group in 1993 as a professional diving watch that was water-resistant up to 300 meters
.

James Bond Omega Seamaster  he Omega Seamaster, a deep diving watch.

Omega Seamaster 300 - Goldeneye 007 James Bond - 1995

1997 – Tomorrow Never Dies

In Tomorrow Never Dies, Bond opts for a Seamaster Professional with an automatic caliber. The watch actually saves his life with an integrated detonator. Design-wise, it’s the exact same
watch as the previous one, with a blue dial with wave pattern, a blue dive bezel with aluminum insert and the helium valve at 10. The movement is now an automatic Calibre 1120.
Watch ref. 2531.80, with a chronometer COSC certification.

Omega Seamaster - Tomorrow Never Dies James Bond 007 - 1997

1999 – The World Is Not Enough

The watch itself doesn’t change in the 1999 movie, The World Is Not Enough. James Bond is still using the Omega Seamaster 300 Ref. 2531.80 with automatic movement. But as always,
the watch features gadgets. In the bezel hides a wire with a grappling hook. Bond takes aim for a secure target. With the press of a button the hook flies from the crown and the bezel whirls at lightning
speed. Once the grappling hook is firmly anchored, the bezel begins turning in the opposite direction, lifting 007 out of the avalanche.

Omega Seamaster - The World is Not Enough James Bond 007 - 1999

2002 – Die Another Day

In this movie from 2002, we found back the Omega Seamaster 300 Ref. 2531.80 with automatic movement. Not technical nor visual updates. Gadget-wise, of course the work of Q is different.
Bond must face off against industrial giant Gustav Graves, a villain working on a satellite weapon. Bond’s watch features a remote detonator in place of the helium valve, which is operated by turning the bezel.
The British secret agent could also activate a laser from the crown of the watch.

Omega Seamaster - Die Another Day James Bond 007 - 2002

Omega also introduced a limited edition of the Seamaster 300 prior the movie (a watch that is not worn by Bond). It became regular to have a watch before the movie and an another one for the movies. Thus, to mark the 40th anniversary of agent 007’s first appearance on the screen and the release of Die Another Day, we have this special watch with a dial sporting the 007 gun logo.
The watch is technically the same, with the chronometer automatic movement.

Omega Seamaster - limited edition - Die Another Day James Bond 007 - 2002

2006 – Casino Royale

New actor, new style, no more gadget, different watch but still an Omega Seamaster. The honor is safe. For Casino Royale, Daniel Craig (the new 007) uses 2 different watches.
The first one is the upgraded edition of the Omega Seamaster 300 seen previously but now with a co-axial movement – watch ref. 222.80.00. However, besides this new engine, t
he look is the same, with the blue waves dial, the same bracelet, same case, same bezel.

Omega Seamaster - Casino Royale James Bond 007 - 2006

However, Daniel Craig also relies on the brand new (at that time) Seamaster Planet Ocean measuring 45.5 mm in diameter. It also contains an Omega Caliber 2500 with co-axial escapement.
Water-resistant to 600 meters, it allows Bond to get into even more dangerous situations — including underwater — and get back out again. It can be seen in the first part of the movie
before making way for the Seamaster 300.

Omega Seamaster - limited edition - Casino Royale James Bond 007 - 2006

2008 – Quantum of Solace

Bond ceased wearing a blue Omega Seamaster Professional in 2008, when Craig’s next Bond film, Quantum of Solace, hit theaters. Britain’s most famous secret agent wore a Seamaster Planet Ocean
in that film instead. This 42-mm watch is somewhat smaller than the Planet Ocean seen in Casino Royale. The watch’s design is reminiscent of the Seamaster watches from the 1960s.

Omega Seamaster - Quantum of Solace James Bond 007 - 2008

Omega introduced another model prior to the release of the film, a limited edition with a honeycomb pattern on the dial.
It featured this special dial, a different caseback and the film title on the dial.

James Bond and a limited edition Seamaster: worth the wait!

The patience of Bond fans and aficionados of great timepieces will soon be rewarded. Omega is releasing the Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean 600m «Quantum of Solace» Limited Edition watch in line with the latest film in the franchise. «Quantum of Solace», produced by Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli for EON Productions and directed by Marc Forster, will be released internationally in November 2008 with Daniel Craig reprising his role as James Bond.

The Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean 600m «Quantum of Solace» Limited Edition watch.

The «Quantum of Solace» watch has all the features which have made the Seamaster Planet Ocean one of the world’s most popular timepieces: features include Omega’s calibre 2500 self-winding chronometer movement fitted with the revolutionary Co-Axial Escapement, which reduces friction while offering better accuracy over time, and it has a power reserve of 48 hours. A free sprung balance further increases its precision. The «Quantum of Solace» watch is perfectly designed for diving: it is water resistant to a depth of 600 metres (2000 feet) and has both a helium escape valve and a unidirectional rotating bezel.

A watch with its own personality

The Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean 600m «Quantum of Solace» also has some unique details distinguishing it from other Bond watches which give it a personality all of its own: it has a black dial whose textured surface is reminiscent of the grip of Bond’s trademark Walther PPK.

The «Quantum of Solace» Limited Edition features white Super-LumiNova on its indexes and hands; the words «Quantum of Solace» are discreetly laser-engraved on the inside of its sapphire crystal. The Omega name and logo and the Arabic numerals are applied on the dial. The blood red tip of the seconds hand and the Seamaster logo present a stark contrast to the black dial. The watch being released in a limited edition of 5,007 pieces.

Undeniably James Bond

This is undeniably a James Bond watch: a 007 logo is engraved on the buckle of the stainless steel bracelet. Another 007 logo appears on the caseback which also features the engraved words «Planet Ocean Limited Edition» whose black chromium treatment recalls the colour of the black dial. On the caseback is the limited edition number (0000/5007).

The Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean 600m «Quantum of Solace» Limited Edition, 45.5mm is delivered in an elegant black presentation box whose texture reflects the watch’s dial. The inside of the presentation box proudly announces its lineage with the words, «Quantum of Solace».

James Bond’s new watch in «Quantum of Solace»

«I’m motivated by my duty.»

When Daniel Craig reprises his role as James Bond in «Quantum of Solace», he will be wearing an Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean 600m Co-Axial Chronometer with a black dial. Bond fans and Omega enthusiasts will know that 007 has been wearing Seamasters featuring blue dials since 1995 so the black watch face on the Seamaster Planet Ocean in «Quantum of Solace» marks a departure for James Bond.

The Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean 600m Co-Axial Chronometer with a black dial.

James Bond’s choice

For «Quantum of Solace», Bond’s choice is the steel on steel Seamaster Planet Ocean 600m Co-Axial Chronometer, whose design features can be traced directly back to the classic Seamasters of the 1950s. Inside the case it’s a different story: the watch is driven by the Omega Co-Axial calibre 2500 whose revolutionary Co-Axial Escapement and free sprung balance deliver long-term stability and precision and dramatically reduce the need for servicing. The hands and indexes have been treated with SuperLumiNova and are legible in all lights and conditions and offer a stark contrast to the matte black surface of the dial. Even the sweep of the luminous orange-tipped seconds hand can easily be read in the dark. There are Arabic numerals at 12, 6, and 9 o’clock with a date window is located at the 3 o’clock position on the dial.

A professional divers’ watch

A professional divers’ watch, the Seamaster Planet Ocean 600m Co-Axial Chronometer is equipped with a helium escape valve and a unidirectional rotating bezel. The stainless steel bracelet features a diver’s clasp which allows its length to be extended to fit around a wetsuit. As its name suggests, the Planet Ocean 600m is water resistant to a depth of 600 metres (2000 feet).

A proud member of the Seamaster family

The Seahorse medallion featured on the COSC-certified chronometer’s screw-in case back makes a strong visual statement about its association with the sea and its proud membership in the Omega Seamaster family.

A sapphire glass caseback offers a view of both the movement and the rotor, which features a “Skyfall 007” engraving.

2015 – Spectre

For the latest installment of James Bond, 2015’s Spectre, Omega decided to have 2 watches. The first one is a limited edition released prior to the launch of the movie. It is based on the
Omega Seamaster AquaTerra 150m and it features the new antimagnetic movement and a specific dial and set of hands.
The Omega Seamaster Aqua Terra 150m Master Co-Axial Limited Edition James Bond 007 Spectre won’t appear in the movie, as we know know that the secret agent will wear something even cooler.

For Spectre, James Bond somehow goes back to its roots. A few month ago, we spotted Daniel Craig wearing an Omega Seamaster 300 Master Co-Axial on a black and grey NATO strap – and as
it was during shootings of the latest James Bond 007 movie, there was no doubt to have: the official Spectre watch had to be a SM300. So we have a proper diver watch, with vintage-inspired style
and a NATO strap – kind of reminiscent of the early Submariners worn in the first movies. It is detailed here.

The Omega Spectre Edition

This new issue, called the Spectre Edition, is all about the latest 007 film, with a focus on our collaboration with James Bond. Among other things, you will also enjoy a presentation of the watches worn in this movie as well as many stories from behind the scenes.

This edition of Lifetime, Omega’s exclusive lifestyle magazine, uncovers the world of James Bond, with a focus on the franchise’s latest film, as well as the character’s 20 year history with Omega. In his letter to Lifetime readers at the beginning of the magazine, Omega President Stephen Urquhart shares his own thoughts, describing the common thread between the spy and the watch he wears, “He has evolved before our eyes, learning from the past, and exceeding where others have failed. As the world throws more challenges his way, he is increasingly self-assured, carrying his style both effortlessly and confidently.”

More secrets revealed
One article slips into the shadows of the real MI6 for an intriguing insight into how the London spy agency has grown. There is also a more light-hearted dip into James Bond’s drinking habits, while readers can also discover the full 20 year timeline of the Omega watches worn by 007.
Daniel Craig, the film’s leading man, has shared his own time, exclusively answering questions about his role, as well as his passion for watches. Each issue of Omega Lifetime features an insert section dedicated to one theme. For this issue, we are able to follow in the footsteps of James Bond in SPECTRE, travelling around the world to the same locations featured in the film, and getting a flavour of the tastes, sights and hotels in each place.

Car, Tuxedo, Seamaster
It’s now well documented that Omega is firmly attached to the James Bond adventures. As the watch of choice, The Seamaster was originally chosen in 1995 for *Goldeneye* for its reputation as a robust divers’ watch with naval pedigree and worldly style. Certainly, as the franchise has evolved, the watch has moved with it. With the new watch revealed in this issue, readers will discover a fresh approach that injects a dark new edge of attitude.

Friends and Family
The most recent Bond films have revealed 007’s complex network of family and relationships. One of his closest allies, Miss Moneypenny, played a big role in *Skyfall*, and as she returns again, this issue looks closely at the actress who plays her – Naomie Harris. Of course, as we pay homage to Bond’s past, the magazine will also reflect the many exciting partnerships and events of Omega. As always, we remember the special moments that have shaped our year so far, and celebrate the people who help make our brand what it is today.

Omega "Die Another Day" 12-page gatefold promotes 40th Anniversary James Bond Seamaster

One of the many great benefits that flows to collectors from an official product placement sponsor for James Bond watches in Eon Productions films is the wealth of related material that's made available.

In conjunction with Die Another Day, Omega SA produced a 12-page gatefold brochure that highlights the wristwatch makers' history with 007, dating back to GoldenEye.

The opening panel of this 2002 piece features the following introduction from Nicolas G. Hayek of the Swatch Group (Omega SA is one of its wholely-owned subsidiaries).

Omega & James Bond 007

Omega and James Bond. No matter how you write it, it always makes sense. Omega designs watches which go deeper, higher, further, performing at the extremes of human experience. Its watches are the choice of men and women who travel in space or dive the ocean depths. What better companion could Bond wish for on his adventures?

The Seamaster represents a marriage of precision, strength and reliability that even in the exacting business of Swiss watchmaking is hard to beat. Q branch chose the Seamaster Professional for issue to all its operatives for much the same reasons as NASA selected the Speedmaster for all its manned space flights. They work.

The Seamaster represents a passion for style and function that has characterised Omega's 150 years as a leading player in the Swiss watchmaking industry. It is good to know, as James Bond sets off on his next dangerous mission, Die Another Day, that one again, a little, but very well qualified, bit of Omega goes with him.

The next panel in sequence goes to our 2537.80:

James Bond Omega Seamaster  he Omega Seamaster, a deep diving watch.

This special edition Omega, modelnr. 222.30.46.20.01.001, features a black textured surface on its dial - reminiscent of the grip of 007's trademark Walther PPK. The blood red tip of the seconds hand rotates in stark contrast to the black dial. Unmistakably Omega, undeniably Bond: a 007 logo is engraved on the buckle of the stainless steel bracelet. Another 007 logo appears on the caseback which also features the engraved words "Planet Ocean Limited Edition" whose black chromium treatment recalls the colour of the black dial.

The Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean 600m Co-Axial ”Quantum Of Solace” Limited Edition watch displays many new elements we’ve never seen on a Planet Ocean watch before.

Omega have got the details for this Bond watch just about perfect. First of all the sapphire crystal domes lens has been laser engraved on its inner surface with a ”Quantum of Solace” decoration.

The black textured dial has a pattern that echoes the checkering found on the grip panels of James Bond’s pistol of choice, the Walther PPK. The caseback rounds the subtle Bond themes off with an engraved 007 medallion and the individual edition number of the watch.

To coincide with the release of the movie Quantum of Solace, Omega released a special version of its Seamaster Planet Ocean 600m watch. The black textured surface of its dial - reminiscent of the grip of 007's trademark Walther PPK - distinguishes the Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean 600m Quantum of Solace from the regular Seamaster Planet Ocean 600m. The subtle blood red tip of the seconds hand rotates in stark contrast to the black dial.

Basic technical features of the Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean Quantum of Solace watch are the same as that of the basic Seamaster Planet Ocean 600m model: water resistant to a depth of 600 meters (2000 feet), the 45.5mm timepiece is equipped with a screwed helium valve, a graduated unidirectional bezel, a screw-down winding crown, and a steel bracelet with a double push-button safety clasp and dive extension. Movement is the self-winding Omega 2500 caliber, which features a stop seconds function, a rapid adjust date display, and a power reserve of 48 hours; the caliber also employs the Omega Co-Axial escapement, which reduces friction and promotes long-term timekeeping performance.

This Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean 600m Quantum Of Solace Limited Edition was available in a limited number of 5007 pieces.

The Seamaster Planet Ocean 600M SKYFALL Limited Edition is powered by OMEGA's exclusive new Co-Axial calibre 8507. SKYFALL 007 is on its rotor in black-varnished engraving. The movement is visible through sapphire crystal in the brushed screw-in caseback.

Along with OMEGA’s industry-changing Co-Axial technology, the watch is equipped with an "Si14" silicon balance spring. The combination is so stable and reliable that the Planet Ocean comes with a full four-year warranty.

The Seamaster Planet Ocean 600M SKYFALL wristwatch is being produced in an edition limited to 5,007 pieces and is delivered in a special presentation box.

Celebrating the new James Bond film:the Seamaster Planet Ocean 600M”SKYFALL” Limited Edition

In SKYFALL, to be released in autumn of 2012, James Bond will take to the screen for the 23rd time with Daniel Craig again assuming the role of the world’s favourite secret agent. And once again, 007 will wear an OMEGA Seamaster.

To celebrate its seventh performance in a supporting role in a Bond film, OMEGA is launching the Seamaster Planet Ocean 600M”SKYFALL” Limited Edition watch.

Like every Planet Ocean, the new watch is ready for underwater adventure. Equipped with a unidirectional rotating diving bezel and a helium escape valve, the watch is water resistant 60 bar / 600 metres / 2000 feet.

The watch has a 42 mm brushed and polished stainless steel case and a matching patented screw-and-pin bracelet whose divers’ clasp is engraved with “007”. The rotating diving bezel is distinguished by its matt black ceramic ring with a chromium nitride diving scale.

The applied indexes on the matt structured black dial are coated with white Super-LumiNova emitting a blue light as are the polished, facetted rhodium-plated hands. The exception is the minute hand which emits a green light, as does the dot on the diving bezel. This feature makes it easy for divers to keep track of their time at a glance. At the 7 o’clock position is a 007 logo and at 3 o’clock, there is a date window.

Bond Girl Bérénice Marlohe is the Newest Omega’s Ambassador
The renowned Swiss watchmaker that has built the reputation of favorite James Bond’s watch brand appointed a French actress, Bérénice Marlohe, as the newest brand ambassador. The Eurasian beauty plays glamorous and enigmatic Severin in the 23rd Bond film Skyfall, alongside with Daniel Craig who has already deserved the place in the first line of Omega’s ambassadors, by promoting the brand’s watches in his roles of the world’s most famous secret agent.

Bérénice Marlohe in Venice

This year, Omega has marked 50 years since the first movie about stylish spy by releasing  Limited Edition of the Seamaster Professional James Bond 50th Anniversary Watch.

Bond Girl Bérénice Marlohe is the Newest Omega’s Ambassador review was published on Watchalyzer on June 18, 2012

Bérénice Marlohe was promoted as the brand’s latest ambassador at the opening of the new Omega’s boutique in Venice. The French actress was speaking about the most important acting role in her carrier, rather than about her new role in the Omega’s family. Thus, we still do not know which models Bérénice Marlohe will promote. Since her partner in the movie Skyfall, Daniel Craig, wears the Seamaster Planet Ocean 600m in each of his three Bond movies (read the reviews of the new James Bond’s Seamaster Planet Ocean Skyfall watch and Omega Bond 007 Watches), it would not be a surprise seeing glamorous Bérénice with some of luxurious sporty watches from the Ladies’ Seamaster Collection.

Bérénice Marlohe in Venice for Omega Boutique Opening
This is not the first time that the Bond girl is connected with the famous Swiss brand. Caterina Murino showed up in Casino Royale with a blue Omega’s model, while Olga Kurylenko formally promoted the Seamaster Planet Ocean James Bond Watch that Daniel Craig wore in Quantum of Solace. Since these are men’s timepieces, it would be nice to see the first ladies’ Omega in a Bond film.

Bérénice Marlohe in Venice

Speaking about her role of Séverine in the James Bond film to be released in November, Bérénice said that she had been described by writers and director as glamorous and enigmatic. “For me, enigmatic is very important because I wanted to create a character that couldn’t be stereotyped. It should not be obvious immediately what kind of person she is”, said Ms Marlohe. “Daniel Craig has added something special with James Bond – he’s both tough and vulnerable and it’s not always clear what he’s thinking. I want to do the same thing with Séverine – she’s not just on the screen to be saved by Bond.”

2012 marks the 50th anniversary of the James Bond film series. To celebrate, it looks like Omega is releasing a special edition James Bond 50th anniversary watch (despite the fact that fifty years ago, Bond was not wearing an Omega at all).

The watch is in the Seamaster series, uses a "007" theme on the black lacquer dial with "50" filled in with red on the outer bezel, and uses Omega's caliber 2507 co-axial movement. The winding rotor looks like a bullet and is inscribed with "50 years of James Bond." The Omega Seamaster Limited Edition James Bond 50th Anniversary watch is sized at 41mm and will be available some time early this year.

Oh, and just how limited will this limited edition be? Omega will be making 11,007 of them, which is, to give you some context, roughly 2.5 times the yearly production of A. Lange & Sohne, worldwide.

Editor's Note: It should be stated that this information did not come from Omega directly, but from a UK-based authorized dealer called Banks Lyon. Since publishing this post, Banks Lyon has removed the listing from their website.

With the release of the 24th James Bond film SPECTRE, 007 returns with this iconic timepiece, updated with ... The OMEGA Seamaster has been James Bond's choice of watch for 20 years. As the stories have evolved, so too have the watches. Today, we see the ultimate culmination of character and watchmaking expertise, ...

The main reason for the switch to the Omega Diver 300 for the Bond franchise is because of Lindy Hemming, a British woman in charge of costume/wardrobe for the new movies. At the time she thought the Seamaster looked the part of a rogue special operative who also need the ability to dress up. She recognized the history of Omega Seamasters in the Royal Military (importantly SBS like Bond and SAS) which furthered her decision. Hence the choice of the Seamaster Diver by Prince William.

For the 40th anniversary of James Bond (2002), a commemorative edition of the watch was made available, model 2537.80.00 (10,007 units). The watch is identical to the model 2531.80.00 except the blue watch dial had a 007 logo inscribed across it and also machined into the case-back. The band also had 007 inscribed on the clasp.

Daniel Craig, the current James Bond of  Casino Royale, Quantum of Solace and Skyfall, also wears the Omega Seamaster: the Seamaster Planet Ocean and Seamaster Diver 300 M in Casino Royale, and even goes so far as to mention Omega by name in the film when questioned by Vesper Lynd. In connection with the launch of the film, Omega released a 007-special of the Professional 300M, featuring the 007-gun logo on the second hand and the rifle pattern on the watch face, this being a stylized representation of the gunbarrel sequence of Bond movies.

Omega released a second James Bond limited edition watch in 2006. This was a Seamaster Planet Ocean model with a limited production of 5007 units. The model is similar to what Craig wears earlier on in the film; however, it has a small orange-colored 007 logo on the second hand, an engraved case-back signifying the Bond connection, and an engraved 007 on the clasp.[5] In Quantum of Solace, Craig wears the Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean with a black face and steel bracelet (42 mm version). Another limited edition was released featuring the checkered "PPK grip" face with the Quantum of Solace logo over it.

The Seamaster Professional Diver 300 M and then later the 600 M Planet Ocean was worn by James Bond in five Bond movies. These Seamasters are made of stainless steel on a stainless steel bracelet, fitted with a blue dial, unidirectional rotating bezel with blue ring and a sapphire crystal.

His name is “Bond, James Bond.” He answers to the MI6 code number 007 and he’s probably the most famous secret service agent in the history of cinema. On his wrist, Commander Bond is, since 1995, wearing OMEGA Seamaster watches. A character of legend, who has fascinated multiple generations all over the world. In 2021 the agent returns to the silver screen, in his latest adventures depicted in No Time to Die, which also marks the last appearance of the man who has played the role in 5 movies, Daniel Craig. And since you’re certainly about to watch the movie yourself soon, it’s time to have a closer look at the watches of 007. Here’s your guide to all the OMEGA watches worn by James Bond, including an in-depth video with all the details and special guests to explain this long-lasting connection. And this also includes the details about the Seamaster Diver 300M “007 Edition” you’ll see in the 25th movie of the series, including the gadgets.

OMEGA X 007 – OVERVIEW

OMEGA Watches and the James Bond 007 Franchise have been partnering since Goldeneye, 1995. In total, ten different watches have been used in all nine movies (under the Brosnan and Craig eras), knowing that the same watch has been used three times, in 1997, 1999 and 2002 movies. In three of the movies, Bond is wearing two different watches, only when portrayed by Daniel Craig (in 2006, 2012 and 2015 movies).

While gadgets have been a recurring theme over the entire course of the Brosnan era, with all the watches worn by 007 equipped with such exotic, Q branch-developed features, the production has decided to remove this specificity when releasing Casino Royale in 2006, marking a new turn in the Bond series, 007 becoming more realistic and more dramatic.

The gadgets were re-introduced in the 2015 Spectre movie and are once again found in 2021 No Time To Die, the last film to star Daniel Craig in the role of James Bond.

HOW OMEGA WAS CHOSEN BY EON PRODUCTIONS?

It would be incorrect to say that the first appearance of an OMEGA Watch in a James Bond 007 movie was the simple result of product placement. When the series was revamped in the mid-1990s, by starring a new actor – in the name of Pierce Brosnan – it’s not only the characters that were renewed but also the whole costume design.

Pierce Brosnan as James Bond 007, in 2002 Die Another Day, the famous Omega Seamaster Diver 300M Professional on the wrist – image by EON Productions

Behind the OMEGA x Bond connection is Lindy Hemming, an Oscar-winning costume designer. She was responsible for casting 007’s watch in GoldenEye. She said, “I was convinced that Commander Bond, a naval man, a diver and a discreet gentleman of the world would wear the Seamaster with the blue dial.” This is how 007 will be seen for the first time, in 1995 Goldeneye, wearing the famous OMEGA Seamaster 300M Professional. It is also important to note that commercial considerations were not part of the initial choice. “There was no product placement incentive in 1995 whatsoever,” she said. Behind this choice for OMEGA were of course reasons such as the military background of Bond, but also the wish of Hemming to rethink the 007 character, making him “more modern and European.“

Daniel Craig as James Bond in 2006 Casino Royale, wearing the OMEGA Seamaster Diver 300M Professional Co-Axial – image by EON Productions

An interesting fact, also part of this initial decision, concerns Lindy herself. She remembered friends of her father who were former Navy men and most of them were wearing OMEGA watches, as part of their military equipment… And this is how Commander Bond will follow the tradition of OMEGA delivering watches to British field agents.

The most famous of them all, and the first to appear on camera, the Omega Seamaster Diver 300M Professional Quartz worn in Goldeneye 1995 – image by Watchfinder Co.

As explained to us by Suttirat Anne Larlarb, Costume Designer on No Time to Die, the Seamaster watch has always been sort of a character in itself. OMEGA has been approached by EON Productions with the idea of a dive watch with a blue-coloured dial and thus, the initial choice for the brand was simple; it had to be the Seamaster Diver 300M Professional. With this in mind, it is time to look at the entire list of OMEGA Watches worn by James Bond in 007 movies.

1995, GOLDENEYE – SEAMASTER DIVER 300M PROFESSIONAL QUARTZ

Omega Seamaster 300m Quartz Professional 2541.80 James Bond Goldeneye ID Card 1995

The OMEGA Seamaster watch that’s probably the most famous of them all is the Diver 300M Professional with wave blue dial worn in 1995 movie Goldeneye, with 007 portrayed for the first time by Irish actor Pierce Brosnan. The watch is so important in the movie that its actual presence gave this specific model (and subsequent evolutions) its nickname, the “Bond Watch.”

In the movie, Bond is wearing the OMEGA Seamaster Diver 300M Professional reference 2541.80. It was the first model in a new collection of rugged yet relatively compact and thin dive watches launched in 1993. Back then, it was still equipped with a quartz movement, which is the exact watch appearing in Goldeneye. It features a now emblematic wave pattern on its blue dial, with a matching aluminium insert on the bezel. Also part of the signature look of the watch is a 5-link steel bracelet with brushed and polished links. Measuring 41mm in diameter, it features a screw-down crown with protective guards and a helium valve at 10 o’clock.

But of course, there’s more to Bond 007’s Seamaster Diver 300M Professional than its classic features. It is, of course, equipped by Q Branch with some life-saving features (or gadgets). Hidden in the pearl marker on the bezel is a laser that 007 uses to cut the floor in a Soviet train in order to escape. Later, he uses a built-in remote detonator to trigger a bomb.

This watch marked the beginning of the OMEGA x Bond story and remains in many fans’ minds the ultimate James Bond Watch.

1997, TOMORROW NEVER DIES – SEAMASTER DIVER 300M PROFESSIONAL CHRONOMETER

Omega Seamaster 300m Professional Chronometer Automatic 2521.80.00 James Bond Tomorrow Never Dies ID Card 1997

In the following movie released in 1997 – Tomorrow Never Dies – James Bond is wearing the same emblematic Seamaster Diver 300M Professional, however, in an automatic chronometer-rated version, the reference 2531.80.00. In terms of looks, the watch is almost identical to the previous quartz version, with the only noticeable difference visible at 6 o’clock – instead of 3 lines of text, this new automatic edition has 4 lines of text, including the mention “Chronometer.”

Other than the movement, specifications are identical, with the same dimensions, water-resistance and features. Inside this OMEGA Seamaster Diver 300M Professional ticks automatic Calibre 1120.

Q Branch equips here 007’s watch with a remote detonator that Pierce Brosnan uses to blow up villain Elliot Carver’s stealth boat, and the activation of the feature is shown by illuminated hour markers.

1999, THE WORLD IS NOT ENOUGH – SEAMASTER DIVER 300M PROFESSIONAL CHRONOMETER

Omega Seamaster 300m Professional Chronometer Automatic 2521.80.00 James Bond The World Is Not Enough ID Card 1999

In 1999, the third James Bond 007 movie starring Pierce Brosnan was released, named The World Is Not Enough. In these new adventures, Bond travels the world to avoid a nuclear incident and, once again, wears the same OMEGA Seamaster Diver 300M Professional Chronometer reference 2531.80.00 as in the previous movie.

After passing through the hands of Q and his team of engineers, James Bond’s Seamaster is now fitted with an ultra-bright light source, and more importantly, a miniature grappling hook that is hidden under the bezel, and helps 007 to escape from a missile base.

The OMEGA Seamaster Diver 300M is once again clearly visible during the entire movie and, here too, plays an important role in Bond’s adventures.

2002, DIE ANOTHER DAY – SEAMASTER DIVER 300M PROFESSIONAL CHRONOMETER

Omega Seamaster 300m Professional Chronometer Automatic 2521.80.00 James Bond Die Another Day ID Card 2002

Once again portrayed by Pierce Brosnan, but for the last time, James Bond 007 wears his beloved OMEGA Seamaster Diver 300M Professional Chronometer reference 2531.80.00, still with the signature blue wave dial and blue aluminium bezel.

In this action-packed movie, Q Branch installs a laser, built into the crown, used to cut through thick ice. Another trick is hidden into the helium escape valve, which can be pulled out of the crown and used as a remote detonator, actuated when rotating the crown.

Die Another Day marks the end of many things for the series. It is the last time we see this specific reference on screen, it’s Brosnan last appearance too, and it is also (temporarily) the last time Q Branch looks after the watch and installs features.

2006, CASINO ROYALE – SEAMASTER PLANET OCEAN 600M 45.5MM CO-AXIAL CHRONOMETER & SEAMASTER DIVER 300M PROFESSIONAL CO-AXIAL

The 21st movie of the James Bond 007 series, Casino Royale, is often described as a complete reboot of the franchise. The idea of EON Productions was that the character should be closer to the description made by Ian Fleming in his books. James Bond becomes edgier, more human, he shows more personal feelings and emotions, and the overall style of the movie becomes more realistic and slightly more dramatic.

Many things have changed with the introduction of Casino Royale in 2006, including first and foremost the actor, as Bond is now portrayed by Daniel Craig. The movie and its characters were more in line with the signs of the time and it reflects in everything related to Bond. His cars, his outfits, and of course his watches.

2006 - Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean 600m 45.5mm Co-Axial Chronometer 2900.50.91 James Bond Casino Royale 2006 ID Card

Faithful to OMEGA and the Seamaster collection, the incarnation of 007 by Daniel Craig wears a sportier, more rugged watch at the beginning of the movie. Indeed, it’s not one but two different OMEGA watches that are used in Casino Royale. In the first part of the movie, Bond is wearing the Seamaster Planet Ocean 600m 45.5mm Co-Axial Chronometer reference 2900.50.91 on a black rubber strap.

2006 - Omega Seamaster 300m Professional Co-Axial 2220.80.00 James Bond Casino Royale ID Card

Also, we see the new Seamaster Diver 300M Professional, this time not upgraded by Q Branch but by OMEGA. Indeed, there are no special features in this movie anymore. Instead, OMEGA brings the latest version of the so-called Bond Watch. If visually still faithful to the roots of the model, it is now equipped with a co-axial automatic movement, the Calibre 2500.

And while we all expected these watches to make something special… they only had to indicate the correct time, being thus more in line with the franchise’s new direction.

2008, QUANTUM OF SOLACE – SEAMASTER PLANET OCEAN 600M 42MM CO-AXIAL CHRONOMETER

Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean 600m 42mm Co-Axial Chronometer 2201.50.50 James Bond Quantum of Solace ID Card 2008

For the first time in the OMEGA x Bond story, the classic Seamaster Diver 300M Professional disappears with the 2008 movie Quantum of Solace. Indeed, instead of the 45.5mm PO600m seen in Casino Royale, James Bond 007, still portrayed by Craig, keeps the rugged and sportier Seamaster Planet Ocean 600m Co-Axial Chronometer on his wrist, but this time in a more compact 42mm edition (reference 2201.50.50), and worn on a stainless steel bracelet. It is equipped with a black dial and black aluminium bezel.

omega seamaster planet ocean 600m co-axial chronometer 42mm 2201.50.00 Quantum of Solace 2008 james bond

As explained to us by Petros Protopapas, OMEGA’s Brand Heritage Manager (the man in charge of the OMEGA Museum and the living memory of the brand), Daniel Craig is someone who appreciates watches and collects watches himself. As of Quantum of Solace, Craig had a stronger involvement in the choice of the watch that Bond should be wearing. He thus indicated his preference for a smaller sized watch, resulting in the 42mm PO600m to be featured in this 2008 movie.

As with Casino Royale, following the reboot of the franchise in a more realistic way, there are no tricks added by Q Branch in the watch worn by 007 in Quantum of Solace.

2012, SKYFALL – SEAMASTER PLANET OCEAN 600M CERAMIC 42MM & SEAMASTER AQUA TERRA 150M 38.5MM

For the 2012 movie Skyfall, we will again see two different OMEGA Seamaster watches worn by James Bond, still portrayed by Daniel Craig. This marks the second time James Bond is seen with two different watches in a single movie, just like in Casino Royale.

omega seamaster planet ocean 600m ceramic co-axial chronometer 42mm 232.30.42.21.01.001 Skyfall James Bond

The first watch seen in Skyfall, and clearly visible in the first scene that takes place in Istanbul, Turkey, is the evolution of the Seamaster Planet 600M Co-Axial Chronometer seen in Quantum of Solace, yet with the latest technologies used by OMEGA. Still measuring 42mm, still worn on a stainless steel bracelet, the Seamaster Planet Ocean 600M reference 232.30.42.21.01.001 worn by 007 in Skyfall comes with a black ceramic bezel insert and a new, entirely in-house manufactured Calibre 8500, with co-axial technology and chronometer certification.

Later in the movie, for instance when Bond travels to Macau where he’s seen in a casino (of course with a tuxedo), he’s wearing a more elegant watch from the OMEGA Seamaster collection. For the first time in a 007 movie, the Secret Service agent wears a Seamaster Aqua Terra 150M Co-Axial Chronometer. Craig chose the compact 38.5mm version of the watch (reference 231.10.39.21.03.001), with a blue striped dial and stainless steel bracelet, as well as the same co-axial chronometer Calibre 8500 found in the PO600m.

Once again in Skyfall, where Bond shows more of his personal emotions, there are no additional features added by Q Branch into the watches, in line with the overall direction of the movie.

2015, SPECTRE – SEAMASTER AQUA TERRA 150M 41.5MM & SEAMASTER 300 MASTER CO-AXIAL CHRONOMETER “SPECTRE EDITION”

Omega Seamaster 300 Master Co-Axial Chronometer Spectre Edition 233.32.41.21.01.001 James Bond Spectre ID Card 2015

2015 Movie Spectre marks again, at least in terms of watches, a slight change in the direction taken by EON Productions and OMEGA. As in Casino Royale and Skyfall, James Bond, still portrayed by Daniel Craig, is wearing two different watches from the OMEGA Seamaster collection. One is a classic, elegant model, the other is not only a watch that was created specifically for the movie, but it also comes with a surprise…

omega seamaster aqua terra 150m master co-axial chronometer 41.5mm 231.10.42.21.03.003 Spectre James Bond

In the first part of the movie, which takes place in Mexico City, James Bond is wearing again an OMEGA Seamaster Aqua Terra 150m with a blue dial, but this time with a 41.5mm case and a calibre 8500 that is part of the “Master” generation, meaning capable of resisting to intense magnetic fields. This watch, reference 231.10.42.21.03.003, is here worn on a stainless steel bracelet.

Omega Seamaster 300 Master Chronometer Spectre Edition 233.32.41.21.01.001 James Bond Spectre

The second watch to appear in the 2015 movie Spectre is far more special. First of all, it has been specifically developed for the movie – even if it will later be available as a limited edition of 7,007 pieces. This OMEGA Seamaster 300 Master Co-Axial Chronometer “Spectre Edition” (reference 233.32.41.21.01.001) is based on the classic SM300 that was launched a couple of years before, yet modified with several unique features. It features a black ceramic bezel with a 12-hour scale (instead of the 60min scale of the diver’s version). Its grained black dial, with recessed pointy markers (a reference to the 1957 Seamaster 300) and a specific Ω logo at 12 o’clock, has vintage-looking luminous material, and there is a cool lollipop seconds hand.

Also, the watch is equipped with a 5-stripe NATO strap in black and grey – often referred to as the Bond NATO strap – and inside its case is the brand’s in-house Master Co-Axial Chronometer Calibre 8400, a movement with 60h power reserve and high-end technologies, such as its magnetic resistance to 15,000 gauss. The watch measures 41mm in diameter and, for the limited edition made available to the public, a stainless steel bracelet was also included in the presentation box.

But, there’s more to this watch… Because it also marks the comeback of Q Branch’s special features. After 3 movies without seeing them, they are again part of the 007 legend. In the scene where Bond receives his new watch, he asks (with a certain irony…) “Does it do anything?…” and Q says “It tells the time.” But that’s not the end of the story, as a few seconds later, Q warns James Bond on the fact that “the alarm is rather loud… if you know what I mean.”

And indeed, Bond’s OMEGA Seamaster 300 “Spectre Edition” does more than just indicating the correct time. It features a countdown and a bomb. Once activated, the hour markers indicate the remaining time before the explosion by turning red and the hands all come back to the 12 o’clock position.

2021, NO TIME TO DIE – SEAMASTER DIVER 300M CO-AXIAL MASTER CHRONOMETER “EDITION 007” TITANIUM

Omega Seamaster Diver 300M Co-Axial Master-Chronometer Edition 007 Titanium 210.90.42.20.01.001 James Bond No Time To Die ID Card 2021

In the latest 007 movie that has just been released, No Time to Die, James Bond is back to the classic OMEGA Seamaster Diver 300M watch, however in a highly different version, with once again a watch developed specifically for the movie (and also available as a special edition for the public). This watch, the Seamaster Diver 300M Co-Axial Master Chronometer “Edition 007” is the reference 210.90.42.20.01.001 and comes with a long list of special features that make it unique.

The watch is a clear tribute to the military background of James Bond and many of the specific features of this “Edition 007” come from Daniel Craig himself. There are references to historic military watches supplied to the British MoD – OMEGA indeed delivered a large number of watches to ally military forces, mostly to UK’s troops. This is why this Seamaster Diver 300M “Edition 007” features the famous Broad Arrow on the dial and caseback, as well as a series of numerals engraved – which are a reference to the historic military serial numbers of these watches. For instance, the code 0552 refers to the Navy.

omega seamaster diver 300m co-axial master chronometer 42mm titanium 007 Edition 210.90.42.20.01.001 No Time To Die 2021 James Bond

This specific edition of the Seamaster Diver 300M is characterized by its brushed titanium 42mm case, a bezel insert and a dial that are made of tropical brown aluminium, markers and hands with vintage-coloured luminous material, a domed sapphire crystal and its absence of a date window. It is also worn on a titanium “mesh” bracelet and is powered by the Master Chronometer Calibre 8806, equipped with all the innovative features OMEGA has been developing recently.

And for the other big question… Yes, the watch worn by James Bond in No Time to Die does come with typical Q Branch features. Q (standing for Quartermaster) portrayed by Ben Whishaw, has indeed equipped the watch with a powerful electromagnetic pulse (EMP) device, which is activated by twisting the helium escape valve and pressing it down. The EMP is used in the movie to disable electronic devices, such as a high-tech electronic door lock.

And in the movie, James Bond asks Q “how strong is it?” and the answer is “fairly strong” but adding “we haven’t had the time to test it properly. Just be careful.” This electromagnetic device is also quite interesting for OMEGA to demonstrate its technical superiority since the watch is a Master Chronometer capable of resisting intense magnetic fields.

No Time to Die marks the last appearance of Daniel Craig as James Bond. Who will be the next 007? What will be the watch on his (or maybe her) wrist? Of course, nothing is yet certain but the franchise’s 26th movie will certainly be yet another drastic evolution of both the character and everything that makes him James Bond.
