Why can’t I play the MP3 clips?

To listen to the files simply click the ‘Download’ link on one of the film clips pages. Once the file has been downloaded it should automatically start in the default MP3 player. If a file doesn’t play in this way then right-click on the ‘Download’ link and save it to your computer. It should then be possible to open the file in your desired media player. You will a need an MP3 player to play these files with Windows Media Player 9, Sonique and WinAmp being popular players.

James Bond FAQ

Who is James Bond?

James Bond is a fictional character conceived by Ian Fleming, a writer. He came up with the idea based on his life and the lifes of his close firends.

The name James Bond however came from a book, Birds of the West Indies, the book can be seen in the film Die Another Day as a tribute to Bonds origins.

How is Ian Fleming connected with Bond?

Ian Fleming is of course an author, inspired by his World War II duties to create an impervious secret agent, by the dullest name he could find - James Bond. The name was found by using a book called Birds of the West Indies, a ‘bible’ of Ian Fleming’s that was written by a man named James Bond. Ian Fleming wrote several books, most regarded as classics by fans. These novels and books of short stories include: Casino Royale, Live and Let Die, Moonraker, Diamonds are Forever, From Russia With Love, Dr. No, Goldfinger, For Your Eyes Only, Thunderball, The Spy Who Loved Me, On Her Majesty’s Secret Service, You Only Live Twice, The Man With The Golden Gun, and Octopussy and the Living Daylights. Other authors of the James Bond series of books are - Kingsley Amis, John Gardner and Raymond Benson.

How do I make a Vodka Martini?

A Vodka Martini is Bond’s drink of choice. The Vodka Martini usually consists of 1.5 - 2 oz of Vodka and anything from a ‘dash’ to 1oz Dry Vermouth. This is then topped off with an optional olive. Normally any drink containing a spirit would be stirred to avoid ‘bruising’ it - however, Bond prefers shaking the drink as it allows the liquid to mix with the ice and therefore become colder.

Has Bond ever been married?

James Bond marries Teresa Di Vicenzo in On Her Majesty’s Secret Service, but sadly Irma Bunt at the very end of the film kills her. There are a number references to her throughout the series mainly in Diamonds Are Forever, The Spy Who Loved Me, For Your Eyes Only, Licence To Kill and a subtle appearance in The World Is Not Enough.

What does FYEO, AVTAK, TWINE etc mean?

These are acronyms for the films titles, as since some of them are fairly long, fans tend to shorten them and use the first letters of each of the titles words to make up the reference. So for example, For Your Eyes Only becomes FYEO, A View To A Kill becomes AVTAK and The World Is Not Enough becomes TWINE.

I have a question not answered on this site

Autograph FAQ

Should I use a SASE?

This is perhaps the most important thing you can do to achieve success when asking for an autograph through the mail. By using a Self-Addressed Stamped Envelope (SASE) you are greatly increasing your chances of receiving an autograph. This is due to the fact that the celebrity probably receives lots of fan mail asking for autographs. If your request doesn’t have a SASE then your request will probably be put into the bin or if you are lucky just put to the back of the pile.

How long should my request be?

Time is an issue, so no celebrity is going to sit down and read your 5-page novel stating what you liked about every film they ever starred in. Aim to keep your request to less than one side of A4.

How do I send an international request?

International Reply Coupons are used to send autograph requests internationally. These coupons are included in the SASE, allowing them to be converted into the destination countries stamps, allowing the request to be sent back to its source.

What should I say?

Don’t create a standard letter that you send to every celebrity and just “fill-in the blanks”. Include information that is relevant to that person. What was the character name they played in their last film? Why did you like them in that series? What was your favourite episode/film of theirs? Questions like this show you actually watch the film, series or listen to their songs and you actually are a fan of theirs.

Don’t mention in your letter that you are an autograph collector, or you enjoy collecting autographs or words to this effect. There has been a large rise recently in the amount of signed items appearing on auction sites like Ebay. People are writing to celebrities, receiving autographs (sometimes fake) and then selling them at extortionate prices! There are still fraudsters like this around; it has made it harder for the honest fan to receive an autograph from their favourite star. If you don’t mention you are a collector then the celebrity is more likely to send you their autograph. Of course the fraudsters are not going to mention this anyway, so it’s up to you to show you’re genuine.

While this pointer is not a must, it can get you better results. If you send a photograph of your favourite star then it is going to be a photo you like and the size you like. If you ask the celebrity for a photo, then you might receive a small photo or one that you don’t like that much. Be polite in your writing and ask the celebrity could they personally sign the enclosed photograph and that you would be very grateful. Finally, if you do not receive anything wait at least 6 months to a year before sending another request.

What should I look for in an autograph dealer?

Where possible try to buy autographs from a UACC Registered Dealer. Remember that anyone can be a UACC Member, it only takes a small payment – not so with a Registered Dealer that takes experience, reputation and knowledge of their field.

Please be careful when buying autographs from Internet auctions. Remember if it looks to good to be true it usually is! This is very true for autographs such as Sean Connery autographs sold for £5, this should be screaming suspect autograph! The same applies to auctions that seem to have large numbers of autographs from hard-to-get stars. ::
